What You Can Expect On A Bridal Trial With Inez
In this blog, I’m going to walk you through exactly how I run a bridal trial. The session takes around three hours, and it’s truly a worthwhile investment even if you don’t end up booking me. I promise you’ll come away with a clearer understanding of yourself and your preferences when it comes to makeup.

For me, a bridal trial isn’t just about testing out makeup. It’s about getting to know you as the bride. We chat, we laugh, and we see if we’re a good match because vibe doesn’t lie haha!
Okay, so what actually happens in a bridal trial?
First, I always ask what you want and go through your inspo pictures. We talk about any concerns, allergies, expectations, what’s on your mind, and what worries you might have. I’ll also ask about details like the vibe of your wedding, the number of people in your bridal party, the colour of your dress, and the ceremony/reception location because all of these things play a part in how your look will come together. I love being that professional who can give neutral, tailored advice on what would really suit your big day (and your photos!).
Then, I usually start with the eyes it’s often the longest part of the session. Sometimes we spend an hour and a half just playing with different ideas: switching eyelashes, removing and redoing liner, trying waterline versus no waterline. It’s proper trial-and-error, but that’s what makes it so valuable.
The consultation isn’t just about the wedding details, though. I love learning more about you, your personality, your partner, and your story. That connection makes such a difference.
For hair, I’ll always do at least two styles commonly a half-down and an updo, since those are what brides often debate between. Sometimes I’ll even try two variations of an updo (like a middle part sleek bun vs. a textured low bun). If you’re unsure about a veil, I’ll pop one on so you can see how it feels. I also have accessories and even a robe, so you can really visualise yourself as a bride during the trial.
Another big part of my trials is photography. I take lots of photos in different angles and lighting, because what looks natural in person can sometimes disappear on camera, and vice versa. You might love a soft natural look in the mirror, but on camera it may wash out so I help find the balance between looking flawless on camera and feeling comfortable in real life.
I always remind my brides: makeup is removable. We can do less, we can do more, it’s all about what you want. Sometimes staring at yourself in the mirror non-stop creates “fatigue” and you start nit-picking tiny lines or texture. That’s why photos are so helpful, they let you see yourself in a more realistic way, from a distance, in the right lighting, as your guests will see you. And honestly? You always look more gorgeous than you realise.
One thing I also do differently is creating side-by-side comparison looks. This is a lifesaver if you’re indecisive. You might love the eyeliner on one side but prefer the brows on the other, or maybe you’ll like the blush placement here but the colour there. With a side-by-side, you don’t have to choose blindly, you get to see it on yourself.
I actually had a bride recently who said at the end of her trial, “Oh my god, I’m so glad I did this! you’ve been so helpful.” She thought she knew what she wanted, but was still indecisive. Through the trial, she got clarity, options, and the confidence to decide what really felt like her.
Your best bridal look is personal. For some, it’s a full glam transformation. For others, it’s looking like yourself but enhanced. For some, it’s natural makeup but with a flawless coverage base. There’s no one right answer—it’s about what makes you feel your absolute best.
That’s why I highly recommend a bridal trial:
💍 For brides who want to experiment with different styles.
💍 For brides who don’t know what they want yet.
💍 For brides who do know, but can’t decide between options.
💍 For brides who want advice that’s flexible, neutral, and understanding.
A trial usually runs about three hours. Even if you don’t end up booking with me, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of yourself, new insights, and the peace of mind that nothing on your wedding day will be a surprise. You’ll know exactly what to expect from me—not just my work, but also my personality. And I’ll know you better, too, so I can tailor everything perfectly to you.
At the end of the day, it’s not just a transactional appointment. It’s a collaboration, a connection, and a chance to create a look that feels authentically you.
