What You Can Expect On A Bridal Trial With Inez
In this blog, I’m going to walk you through exactly how I run a bridal trial. The session takes around three hours, and it’s truly a worthwhile investment even if you don’t end up booking me. I promise you’ll come away with a clearer understanding of yourself and your preferences when it comes to makeup.

Why I Do Bridal Trials Differently
Over time, I started noticing a pattern. Many brides would come to me after having a trial with another makeup artist or hairstylist and they often left that experience feeling confused and unsure.
They’d tell me things like:
“I didn’t really know what was happening.”
“I wasn’t given any choices.”
“The consultation felt rushed.”
And most of these brides weren’t even people who wore makeup regularly. So imagine how overwhelming that would feel. You sit in the chair, things happen to your face, and by the end, you’re not sure what to think. That’s exactly why I decided to do bridal trials differently.
My Approach: More Than Just Makeup
When I first started, I didn’t set out to be a “bridal makeup artist.” What I did know, though, was that I wanted to run my business thoughtfully. Every service I offer exists for a reason—it’s not just about making money, it’s about helping people. And my bridal trial is a perfect example of that.
Brides often come to me after not feeling heard by their previous artist. Or they simply don’t know how to even choose a makeup artist—some pick based on price, others on recommendations, but none of that guarantees the style will suit them.
That’s where I step in.
I don’t have a “signature look” I apply to everyone. Instead, I listen. My strength is in consultation and communication. Based on feedback, that’s exactly what my clients appreciate most because with me, it’s never about just “putting makeup on your face.” It’s about understanding you. I am chronically online but I haven't seen anyone does trial like I do.
What Happens During a Trial
A bridal trial with me usually lasts about two to three hours. It’s relaxed, detailed, and very personal.
We start with a conversation. Not just about your wedding details, but about you: your personality, your story, your partner, the vibe of your day. That connection matters. It shapes everything from colour choices to makeup style.
I also take lots of photos throughout the process. What looks “natural” in person might look completely different on camera, and vice versa. Many people love a soft, natural look in the mirror, but that same look might disappear under photography lighting. My goal is to help you find the perfect balance: one that looks beautiful both in person and in photos.
And makeup is removable. We can do less or more, try different finishes, or test how it wears throughout the day. I always encourage you to step outside, look in natural lighting, and see how it feels.
For the Indecisive (And That’s Okay!)
Some of my brides are beautifully indecisive, and I love that. I often do side-by-side looks so you can compare styles. Recently, a bride told me after her trial:
“Oh my god, I’m so glad I did this. You’ve been so helpful! Your approach is perfect for someone like me.”
She’d done a trial elsewhere where the artist simply applied makeup and said, “What do you want to change?”
With me, it’s a step-by-step process. We talk through every choice together until it feels right for you.
Makeup Is Personal
Makeup, to me, is art. There’s no one-size-fits-all look. For some, “natural” means barely there. For others, it’s glowing, polished, and enhanced. Some love bolder eyes or a pop of lip color, and that's their version of natural.
I continuously study color theory so I can guide you toward tones that complement you best. Even if you don’t end up booking me for your wedding day, you’ll leave your trial with:
A deeper understanding of your preferences
New insights about what suits you
And peace of mind that nothing on your wedding day will be a surprise
More Than a Service
At the end of the day, a bridal trial with me isn’t just a transactional appointment. It’s a collaboration, a chance to connect, and an opportunity to create a look that feels authentically you.
Whether you’re unsure, already booked someone else, or just want guidance from someone who genuinely cares—I’ve got you. Because for me, makeup isn’t just about the surface. It’s about confidence, comfort, and creating something you’ll still love twenty years from now.
